I want to learn if a Roth IRA is good for me. What are the main advantages/disadvantages/differences from a 401k?

Thanks!

Like your style - its edgey....the starbucks comments are pretty realistic. However, i did buy some pre-ground starbucks breakfast blend at costco before Christmas because I broke our grinder. It wasn't bad at all. Would like to hear your thoughts on mutual funds and load/front or back or/no load from bank???

Hi. I would like to know more about Mutual Funds. I'm considering an investment in Ethical Mutual Funds.

http://www.ethicalfunds.com

I am also considering putting some money into a short term investment (about 1 year). I would like to yeild some interest, but mostly I'd like to sock it away for a bit, until I have a good reason to spend it, that doesn't involve new items that will pretty in the new apartment K and I are moving to, or new items that will look good on me as I sit alone in the new apartment we are moving to.

(In other words, for maybe going back to school. Which means the money will maybe feel good inside my brain, and probably cause a few wrinkles and grey hairs while being used.)

I recently opted into my work's pension plan, and also started socking away a wee bit into Canada Savings Bonds that are held as a Canada RSP (which, if I'm not mistaken, is somewhat tax sheltered..)

But really, I'm largely uninformed on investing, which is ironic, considering my partner works in a bank. If you had roughly $500 a month to stick, where would you stick it? (and why?)
